Former Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive Nana Akwasi Agyeman aka Okumkom, is next to join the fight against illegal mining popularly known as Galamsey.
The activities of illegal miners have destroyed several forest reserves and water bodies in the country. Nana Akwasi Agyeman who lauded government's efforts to fighting against illegal mining is ofthe view that the initiative is a step in the right direction adding that the current administration has championed a good course.
"Galamsey is damaging our forests and water bodies. I'm very glad this government has began the fight against illicit mining activities devoid of any political affiliations and I pray we all support it". He said.
The longest serving KMA Boss made these remarks when the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong, Hon Alidu Seidu paid him a working visit at his residence in Kumasi.
He also pledged his unflinching support to the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive.
On his part, Hon Alidu Seidu also promised to work tirelessly to improve the lives of people in the municipality.
