Ghana move up one place in FIFA ranking but still third in Africa

The Black Stars moved up one place on latest FIFA ranking but remained stagnant in third place in Africa. Ghana were inactive but accumulated points after FIFA factored in 45 international friendlies along with four 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification matches for the OFC region.

Ivory Coast slipped down two places to 36th position in the world but held onto their second place spot in Africa.

Algeria moved up one place to 32 and remained the continent’s highest ranked football nation.

Argentina and Belgium held onto first and second place respectively while a flurry of international matches – largely among European teams focused on their final preparations for the UEFA Euro 2016 taking place from 10 June to 10 July – resulted in a number of shifts in the top 50 this month.
